T Walmsley’s new single 'Patti Smith Blue Eyes' Out now

Singer & multi-instrumentalist T WALMSLEY (Temples) releases his new single “Patti Smith Blue Eyes” which is out now along with the music video. Written & demoed while on tour in the US; the track addresses feelings of limerence, lost romance and forgiveness.

The namesake track, draws inspiration from 80s love songs and was given approval from Patti Smith herself: “I wasn't able to release the song directly without her permission, so I managed to get in touch with her and felt completely honoured she gave it her blessing”.

The track is his second single from studio sessions with producer Matthew Marcantonio (Demob Happy). In vein of Clapton love ballads, with country music hooks “Patti Smith Blue Eyes” draws on pianos, lo-fi synths and his love for great melancholy voices in Chris Rea, Lee Hazlewood and Dire Straits. “Patti Smith Blue Eyes” was written and recorded by Walmsley with Marcantonio assisting with pre-production. The song is available now to stream on all digital retail platforms.

T Walmsley says about the track: “Patti Smith Blue Eyes is about how love can be blind, and how the eyes can be the window to forgiveness. The look of someone you simply cannot walk away from. Country music from the 80s are some of the most heartbreaking songs, and I wanted Patti Smith Blue Eyes to resemble the songwriting style of an old standard from the era.”
