The festival was a celebration of musical diversity, offering something for everyone across its numerous stages. We reviewed the best rock acts, including Liam Gallagher’s iconic Main Stage performance, Fontaines DC and we also had the chance to go backstage with Yard Act, offering an insider’s look at one of the festival’s most exciting new acts. These performances, along with the behind-the-scenes moments, ensured that Sziget 2024 was a festival to remember, leaving fans eagerly awaiting what’s to come next year.
Liam Gallagher got on the Main Stage Friday night, where his setlist was a masterclass in Britpop nostalgia. As he powered through iconic anthems like "Half the World Away" and "Supersonic," the massive crowd erupted into singalongs, reaffirming Gallagher's status as one of rock’s enduring icons. His unmistakable voice and swagger commanded the spotlight, delivering a performance that was a true highlight of the festival.
Fontaines D.C., with their raw intensity and poetic lyricism, captivated the crowd with tracks like "Boys in the Better Land" and "Televised Mind." Their brooding post-punk soundscapes created a magnetic atmosphere that drew festival-goers into their world. For their set at Sziget, Fontaines D.C. delivered exactly what you’d expect from a festival concert—a best-of show packed with fan favorites. The band also surprised the crowd by playing two tracks from their upcoming album, "Favourite" and "Starbuster," and even premiered a brand new song, "Death Kink." The set ended with a quick farewell, punctuated by the obligatory guitar feedback from a casually discarded instrument—a fitting conclusion to their intense performance.
Yard Act, another highlight of the festival, offered a refreshing jolt of sardonic wit and danceable rhythms. The Leeds-based band delivered a sharp, socially conscious set that balanced humor with biting commentary, solidifying their place as one of the UK’s most exciting new acts.
